Wildats Fail to Finish Drives in Hallsville Loss
The Wildcats’ football team moved the ball well at times but too many miscues helped Hallsville secure a 49-3 homecoming victory Friday night. The Wildcats lost a fumble on the Hallsville 5 yard line, had a punt blocked and an interception returned for touchdowns, had another interception, missed two field goals and turned the ball over on downs twice. Animal Shelter mascots Lil John and Gracie are owned by the officers of the Animal Shelter. Lil John is owned by Officer Brandi Blanch, and Gracie is owned by Officer Annie DeWolfe. Gracie is a 8-9 month old Border Collie and Heeler mix, while Lil John is a 7-8 month old Great Dane and Bloodhound mix. Mother La Tarra Young and 5 year old daughter Serenity Young are the first to complete the 1K Before K Program. The 1K Before K Program challenges parents to read 1,000 books to their children before Kindergarten. The new Wendy’s establishment located on Industrial Drive off Interstate-30 is entering the final stages of construction. Foundation and structure have been completed, and parking remains incomplete while construction vehicles are on scene. The facade is well underway, and the Wendy’s sign was raised today, October 8. With oil prices down, gas prices have now fallen as low as $1.95 a gallon at places such as the the Shamrock #1 Stop on Industrial Dr. and Wal-Mart Supercenter. Other gas stations are as low as $1.96 and $1.97, but some are still at the $2.00 range. Gas prices fell a cent over the course of one day. Current prices are almost as low as they were this time last year.
