Shotgun Discharged During Assault
Hopkins County Deputies were advised that a weapon was involved in a disturbance on FM 71 West Wednesday. When they arrived and began their investigation, they found that James Michael Janway, 61, had displayed and discharged a shotgun during an assault on his nephew. Janway is in Hopkins County Jail charged with Aggravated Assault Family with a weapon and is being held on a $75,000 bond.

Man Sentenced to 35 Years for Eighth DWI
In Eighth Judicial District Court Wednesday afternoon, Isiaah Alberty,59, was sentenced to 35 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Alberty was found guilty of Driving While Intoxicated 3 or more conviction. It was his eighth conviction for the charge. Matt Harris, Assistant District Attorney, tried the case for the state. The sentencing hearing began at 9 a.m. Wednesday and concluded in late afternoon.

PJC Proposition Fails in All But One County
Only Lamar County approved the proposition to enter the Paris Junior College District during the November General Election Tuesday. All other counties, Delta, Fannin, Hopkins, Hunt, and Red River, voting on the proposition declined the invitation.
