School News from Hopkins County

North Hopkins ISD Superintendent Darin Jolly announces that military veterans are invited to be honored at a breakfast in the school cafeteria on Friday November 11 starting at 8:30am.

SSISD will salute the veterans on Friday November 11 with a reception for veterans and spouses at 12 noon in the SSHS Library, followed by a program for the public at 1pm in the school gymnasium.

The Sulphur Bluff Beta Club recently donated 73 items  during a service project for Can Help’s Coat and Blanket Drive. Beta Club officers are Reporter Harrison Fite, President Katie Allen, Vice President Jaden Goldsmith and Secretary Turner South.

SSHS Theatre Arts Department will perform a musical “Into the Woods” in 4 performances November 17-20. For tickets, inquire at SSHS 903-885-2158

North Hopkins FFA Chapter members attending a Leadership Development Event on November 4 placed in several areas, and several will advance to Area competition, facing 11 other FFA chapters.

The PTO of Como-Pickton CISD plans a “Personal Safety and Defense Night” on Tuesday November 29 from 6-7:30pm. A Hopkins County peace officer will present safety tips and information on “refusing to become a victim” at home and away during the Christmas shopping season….a local computer expert will provide safety training on Internet/Cyber safety for adults and children…and a demonstration of basic defense will be offered by a representative of a local Jui Jitsu facility. There will also be opportunity to win door prizes and Eagle Bucks. Families are especially invited to attend.
