“Updated” Hopkins County Angels and Ponytails Win First Games in World Series Play

Both the 9 and 10 year old Hopkins County Angels and the 11 and 12 year old Hopkins County Pony Tails won their 9 a.m. Saturday games at the World Series tournament in Alexandria, Louisiana Saturday morning. The Angels defeated North Carolina 5-1. The Pony Tails hammered Georgia 9-1. Both teams play again Sunday. The Angels will play Mississippi at 11 a.m. The Ponytails take on Tennessee at 1 p.m.

Called to a disturbance at a residence on FM 2297, Hopkins County Deputies were told that Taylor Wayne Connatser, 22, of Sachse, had hidden drugs in his mother’s house. Jesus Rubio-Rodriquez, 46, of Sulphur Springs was arrested by Hopkins County Deputies at his residence in the 600 block of Main Street Tuesday. The arrest came as a result of warrants out of Van Zandt County. Rubio-Rodriquez is in Hopkins County Jail awaiting transfer to Van Zandt County Jail. A cell search by Hopkins County Jailors and the Special Crimes Unit found Tabitha Ann Hughes, 32, a current resident at Hopkins County Jail from Malvern, Arkansas to have 14.5 grams of methamphetamine hidden in her bunk.
