Matthew Thomas Bell

It is with heavy hearts and full gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Matthew Thomas Bell, who left us far too soon on May 8, 2026. Born on March 3, 1970, in Sulphur Springs, TX, Matt was a true Texan at heart, embodying a spirit of adventure and hard work that inspired all who knew him.

Matt is survived by his loving wife, Mindy Bell; his children, Dr. Talon Bell and his wife, Dr. Lindsey Bell; Landri Bell and her fiancĂ©, Zach Tiemeyer; and Coen Bell. He is also survived by his devoted mother, Jean Bell; his sisters, Carol Bell and her husband, Greg Moore; and Kathy Wright and her husband, Curtis; mother-in-law, Jill Mangum; father-in-law, Bob Mangum and Teresa Corbin; and his faithful truck-riding companion, Buddy. As the family gathers to honor his memory, they joyfully await the arrival of Matt’s first “Grand Baby Girl” in late August, a bright light who Matt will surely watch over from above. He is preceded in death by his father, Dr. James “Tom” Bell and sister, Elizabeth “Beth” Bell.

Matt was best known for his sharp wit and unmatched ability for storytelling, guaranteed to help find humor and laughter in every situation. A devoted craftsman, Matt poured his energy into his work at Matt Bell Construction, where his dedication to quality and community was unparalleled. When he was not on the job, you could find him enjoying the great outdoors, indulging in his passions for cattle, water skiing, duck hunting, and traveling. He was a member of the Sulphur Springs Masonic Lodge and attended The Way Bible Church.

To celebrate his remarkable life, the community is invited to join us for a visitation at The Way Bible Church on May 11, 2026, from 6:00-8:00 PM. A funeral service will follow on May 12, 2026, at 1:00 PM, where we will share stories, laughter, and tears in honor of Matt’s incredible legacy. He will be laid to rest later following the funeral service at Ridgeway Cemetery in Sulphur Springs.

As we come together to remember Matt, let us rejoice in the memory of a man who knew how to work hard and love even harder. His spirit will forever resonate in our hearts and the beautiful memories we created together. We invite all who knew Matt to join in this celebration of his life and legacy following the services at The Canteen 2.0 in Sulphur Springs, TX.
