Lots of Activity This Week as Several Teams Concluded the Edge Yesterday
It has been a busy few weeks here in Sulphur Springs for Wildcats and Lady Cats sports. Several teams have already had their youth camps; volleyball, girls basketball, softball, baseball, tennis and boys basketball, which took place this week at the SSHS Main Gym. SSHS Athletic Director Greg Owens Announces Winners of Gregg MVP and Cameron Fighting Heart Awards
During events at SSHS Thursday (May 20), Athletic Director Greg Owens announced the 2020-2021 winners of the Forrest Gregg MVP Award and the James Cameron Fighting Heart Award. Lady Cats multiple sport letterman Nylah Lindley signed a letter of intent Thursday morning (May 20) to attend college and play softball at Tuskegee University in Tuskegee, Alabama. Lindley played several years in volleyball, basketball and softball at SSHS. She is the daughter of Nadia Wright and Cleveland Lindley. Meeting Monday night (May 10), the Sulphur Springs School Board approved several coaching changes submitted by Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Greg Owens. It’s another big game day Friday with coaches keeping an eye on the weather. The Lady Cats open the playoffs Friday (February 12) evening with a bi-district game against Nacogdoches at Athens beginning at 6:30 p.m. The Lady Cats won a warm up game Monday at Caddo Mills, 50-49 in overtime and come into the playoff contest with a season record of 16-7.
