Firearm Discharged During Argument with Employee

Sulphur Springs Police were dispatched to a disturbance on Ardis Street where a weapon had been discharged around 7 a.m. last Friday. When officers arrived the weapon was in the possession of Jose Isabel Nunez Pacheco, 42, a resident at the address.

Pacheco said he had been in an argument with an employee and had retrieved and had discharged the firearm during the argument. There were several residences in the area where the weapon had been discharged.

Pacheco was arrested and booked into Hopkin County Jail charged with Deadly Conduct Discharge Firearm, a Felony 3.

Four Tennessee Men Arrested Following Pursuit Reaching Speed Around 150 mph

A 550 Class black 2008 Mercedes and its four passengers were stopped for a traffic violation on I-30 Sunday evening at around 5 p.m. As the Hopkins County Deputy approached, the vehicle left the scene at a high rate of speed and a pursuit ensued. When the rate of speed reached 150 mph, the pursuit was terminated and Mt Vernon Police checked out the vehicle at the site of the arrest at the 129 mile marker. The driver remained in the vehicle but three of the individuals ran on foot. All were located and placed in custody.

 

Located in the auto were two firearms. One of the firearms was reported stolen in Memphis, Tennessee. Also located in the vehicle was a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana and over $5,000 in counterfeit currency.

 

Arrested for Evading Arrest with a Vehicle was the driver K C Carter, Jr., 25, of Memphis, TN.

 

Arrested for Unlawful Possession Firearm by a Felon, Tamper With Physical Evidence, Forgery Financial Instrument, and Evading Arrest were:

Jordan Evans, 25, Memphis, TN;

George Casper Jinkins, 22, of Memphis, TN;

Jarrett Austin Evans, 25, of Memphis, TN.

Winnsboro Police Report March 5-11, 2018

Winnsboro Police made three arrests, 139 service calls, and wrote 54 citations and 25 warnings during the March 5-11, 2018 report period.

James Chambers, 51, of Winnsboro, was arrested March 5th on multiple city of Winnsboro Municipal Court Warrants.

Cherece Richards, 32, of Texarkana, was arrested March 5th on a Collin County Warrant.

Edmond Rochell, 35, of Winnsboro, was arrested March 9th on multiple Hopkins County Warrants.

Paul is the President of the Craig Austin Rowley Chapter of the Texas Society of the War of 1812 and is active in several other societies. North Hopkins Coach Bell Honored for Career Win 800

Honored for his 800 career wins in Texas, North Hopkins Basketball Coach Jeff Bell said his favorite saying is “Have faith, work hard, dream big, and never quit.” Bell said he has tried to live by those words.

Bell’s remarks came as he was honored by Texas UIL Director Charlie Breithaupt at the state basketball tournament in San Antonio this past week

”North Hopkins ISD is thankful and blessed to have Coach Jeff Bell influencing our students, coaches, and faculty. His leadership is no-nonsense, built on a rich foundation of value-based success, not just for athletics…rather, life-practice. I’m thankful that Jeff Bell was able to achieve this extraordinary honor in Hopkins County at North Hopkins ISD,” Superintendent Darin Jolly added.

Wildcats Hit 8 Home Runs in Three Games; Begin District Play Tuesday

Early in their tournament game Friday, it looked like more of the same for the Wildcats’ baseball team. They fell behind Bridgeport, 4-0 in Sherman at the Grayson County Classic. Then the Wildcats found a cure to what’s been ailing them in the form of a ten-run inning!

They added 2 more runs in a couple more innings and they took a 14-4 win. The Wildcats continue to hit the long ball. They had three more home runs Friday for a tournament total of eight in three games. The Wildcats improved their season record to 4-7. They play back to back games on Saturday in Sherman. The Wildcats play Celina at 11 a.m. and then will face Sanger at 1:30 p.m.

The Wildcats open district play Tuesday at their new Wildcat Park against Pine Tree with a JV game at 4 p.m. and a varsity game at 7 p.m.

Lady Cats Win Second District Game

The Lady Cats’ softball team picked up an impressive 7-3 district win at Hallsville Friday night improving their district record to 2-0. After a long losing streak against Hallsville, the Lady Cats have now won the last four games against the Lady Bobcats.

Both teams started well scoring two runs in the first inning. The Lady Cats added two runs in the third and one more in the fourth to take a 5-2 lead. Hallsville picked up a run in the bottom of the fifth but the Lady Cats were still on top, 5-3. The Lady Cats added 2 more insurance runs in the top of the sixth and that’s the way the game ended with a 7-3 Lady Cats win. The Lady Cats bats were active as they had 12 hits on the night. Kelsey Wallace hit a home run and drove in a team high 3 runs. Wallace was also 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored. Alyssa Abron had another big game at the top of the order. She was 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBIs with a triple. Macee Hollins was 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored and a double. Sierra Smith was 3 for 4 with an RBI. Kate Womack was 1 for 1 with a run scored, a walk and an RBI. Brinklee Driver was 1 for 4. Sadie Stroud had a sacrifice. Abron and Smith had a stolen base apiece.

In the circle, Bailey Haggerty got the pitching win throwing all seven innings allowing only 6 hits and 2 earned runs. Haggerty struck out 4 and walked three. The Lady Cats improved their season record to 14-4.

The Lady Cats will play a varsity only non-district game Monday at 4 p.m. at Lady Cat Park against the Texas Home Educators Sports Association of Dallas-Fort Worth. The Lady Cats resume district play at Lady Cat Park Tuesday against Pine Tree with a JV game at 1 p.m. and a varsity game to follow at 2:30 p.m.

Lady Cat Golf Placed Third in District Preview

Today we played in our District Preview at Rockwall Golf and Athletic Club in Rockwall. As a team we shot 480. Freshman Mariam Tran shot 94, Senior Emma Lane shot 126, Sophomore Addison White shot 128, and Sophomore Alyssa Underwood shot 132. Conditions were pretty tough today. The wind gusts were over 20 mph. It was very tough to stick anything on the greens. With those score Tran place fourth and the team placed third. Our next tournament is in Longview on March 23 and 24th.
