More Jobs For Hopkins County?
The Hopkins County Commissioners Court approved a license agreement with Luminant Mining Corporation Monday. County Commissioner Mike Odell explained that the agreement meant when Luminant closed some roads, they would give the county some property where the county could get dirt. The agreement calls for the county to pay Luminant rent of $1 a year for use of the property. Mining work should get underway early next year.
In The Spirit of the Season, Hopkins County Employees Step Up
At the end of Hopkins County Commissioners Court Monday, Precinct 3 County Commissioner Wade Bartley took time to thank some county employees for their generosity. At a Christmas party Friday, when county employees learned about a fire that destroyed a home and its’ contents earlier in the day, the employees took up a collection to aid the couple impacted: Tim Elledge a Precinct 3 employee and his wife Vicky.

The District Attorney’s Office dedicated the Gary McLarry Witness Waiting Room during a Christmas open house Friday afternoon. B.J. Teer Comments on His Election to JP
Billy B.J. Teer said he was humbled that the people of Hopkins County put so much trust in him and overwhelmingly elected him as Justice of the Peace in Precinct 1. Fall Festival Parade Saturday Morning
The annual Fall Festival Parade is coming up Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. Fall Festival Committee Member Melonie Bello is in charge of the Parade and she says it will be wonderful this year. Anyone in the Parade wanting to be judged will need to fill out an entry form. Others are encouraged to just show up. The route will be from Buford Park along Connally to the plaza and then out Gilmer to Auto Zone.
