The Sulphur Springs Police Department is investigating the armed holdup of a gas station convenience store at Broadway at Shannon Road just after 4 Monday morning. The robber showed a black semi-automatic handgun and demanded the cash drawer. The suspect wore a mask and is a white male about six-foot tall and of medium to slender build. The body of a man wanted for murder in Franklin County was found in Hopkins County Tuesday morning. Authorities believe 55-year old Keith Lynn McDowell died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Former Law Enforcement Officer Pleads Guilty

Former Sulphur Springs Policeman and former Hopkins County Sheriff’s Crime Prevention Officer Rex Morgan entered guilty pleas Monday to thefts from the Sheriff’s evidence room and was sentenced to 10-years probation and 180-days in the County Jail. 8th District Court Judge Eddie Northcutt also fined Morgan $2,000 for each offense.
