Golf, Volleyball Out at PJC in Cost Saving Move

The Paris Junior College Board of Regents voted to discontinue the golf and volleyball athletic programs Monday evening due to financial constraints. Revenues to support athletic programs have declined significantly over the last three years and the revenue stream no longer will support eight sports. Wildcats’ golfer Brody Blackmon finished seventh at the State Class 5A Golf Tournament. Blackmon fired another 74 on day two Tuesday to finish with a total of 148. Flood Warning Issued for South Sulphur River

A flood warning for the South Sulphur River between Delta and Hopkins Counties will be in effect from 3 a.m. Wednesday morning until 4 p.m. Thursday, according to the National Weather Service. Tuesday at 2:15 p.m. the river was at 14.63 feet. Flood stage is 16 feet.
