Workers doing dirt work for the new Hopkins County Jail project north of the current jail unearthed a surprise recently. They found what appears to be a railroad spur that had been buried. County Judge Robert Newsom says it shouldn’t raise any environmental issues. He can’t find any records for the spur. Start Date Set For Construction Of New Hopkins County Jail

Hopkins County Sheriff Butch Adams said Thursday that the latest start date for construction of the new County Jail is expected to be August 11. A key person for Sedalco of Fort Worth, the construction manager-at-risk, is expected to be off of another project and to be available for the new County Jail project here by that date.
