Video of Maxwell Stop and Running From Deputy
It all began during a traffic stop at 7:55 a.m. Tuesday morning on FM 71 just west of the Sulphur Bluff store, when Maxwell fled the Hopkins County Deputy. A warrant has been issued for Maxwell.
Maxwell, wanted on a Blue Warrant out of Austin for crimes in Lamar and Red River Counties, fled south from the location on foot. The Sulphur Bluff ISD was placed on a Soft Non-Emergency Lock Down as Hopkins County Sheriff Deputies, Investigators, County and State Bloodhounds, and DPS Helicopter are involved in the pursuit of Maxwell. Maxwell was wearing a black t-shirt, ball cap, and jeans. He should not be approached but if seen, call the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office.
Maxwell has a history of criminal activity dating back to August, 2006. Traveling with Maxwell was a female and juvenile. (see other ksstradio.com stories: here
Maxwell Still at Large; Female Companion in Jail

A female who was married to Maxwell was with him at the time of the traffic stop and is now in Hopkins County Jail charged with Hinder Apprehension or Prosecution of Know Felon. They were separated so that she could regain custody of the juvenile that was with them, according to her niece. Slough has fled police before when with Maxwell.

Lady Cats Basketball Time Changes; Varsity to Begin at 6:45 PM
KSST has just learned of some time changes affecting Tuesday night’s Lady Cats Basketball game against Mt. Pleasant in Wildcats Gym. There will now be a freshman/JV combined game starting at 5:30 p.m. (This is to accommodate game officials) There will be only two games. The varsity game will follow the first game at around 6:45 p.m. This word to Don Julian, KSST Sports Director from Lady Cats Basketball Assistant Coach Kevin Tanton.
Lady Cats Softball Scrimmages
Lady Cats Softball Coach David Carrillo says this year’s preseason scrimmages have been the hardest he has had. They started with Forney, then scrimmaged Rockwall, The Colony and North Forney Saturday and Lindale Monday night at Lady Cat Park. Coach Carrillo says his team’s hitting had been sporadic so far but he adds the Lady Cats have faced one quality pitcher after another so far in scrimmage season. Coach Carrillo says he’s not hitting the panic button. He says sometimes hitting is slow to develop and he says he knows the potential is there. Coach Carrillo says pitchers Allie Fite, Bailey Haggerty and Landri Bell have pitched pretty well for the most part. He says on defense the Lady Cats have some little things to work on. Coach Carrillo says the Lady Cats playing tough teams will help them get better. The Lady Cats have one final scrimmage Friday evening at home against North Lamar. Coach Carrillo says he is ready for the regular season to begin with games that count. He believes his team is ready also. The regular season begins February 16 on the first day of the three-day Sulphur Springs Varsity Softball Tournament. The Lady Cats will play Gilmer, Royse City, Mesquite Poteet, Fort Worth Christian and McKinney.
Daughters of the American Revolution will meet Saturday at 2 PM
The Captain David Philips Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will meet Saturday, February 11, at 2:00 pm at the Senior Citizens Center on Martin Luther King Drive in Sulphur Springs. Member Sara Hurst Jones and her husband Jason will present a program on Cemetery Iconography. All members and any guests are encouraged to attend.
Lady Cat Golf Finishes Sixth at Spring Hill Tourney
The Lady Cats’ golf team got the season off to a solid start with a sixth place finish in a thirteen-team tournament sponsored by Spring Hill at Wood Hollow Golf Course in Longview Monday. The Lady Cats shot a team total of 413.
Sophomore Morgan Landers led the Lady Cats with a 91, good enough for 11th place. Senior Alissa Sotelo shot a 102 and ended up in 17th place. Junior Emma Lane shot 110. Freshman Charlie Potts also shot 110 and freshman Alyssa Underwood shot 111.
New Lady Cats Coach, Whitney Spigener said she was pleased with how well her team played in their first tournament of the season. She said the team had only been practicing for two or three weeks. Coach Spigener said the weather was great Monday and she added her team got in their round just before it got windy.
The Lady Cats will play next in a Rockwall Invitational at Sulphur Springs Country Club on February 17-18.
Wildcat Golf Sixth in First Tourney
The Wildcats’ golf team finished in sixth place among sixteen teams at their first tournament of the year at the Longview Invitational at Pinecrest Country Club Monday. The Wildcats shot a team total of 314.
Senior Alex Motes shot 73. Colton Bench, a freshman, shot a 77 in his first tournament as a high school player. Carter Lewis shot 78, Andrew Escobar had an 86 and Matt Calhoun shot 87. New Wildcats Golf Coach Chris Owens said he was pleased with the first tournament team score. He said he believes his team can trim 10 to 15 strokes off that score by the district tournament in early April.
The Wildcats will play next in the Rockwall Invitational at Sulphur Springs Country Club on February 17-18. Coach Owens explained that the Rockwall district will have their district tournament at Sulphur Springs Country Club and the February 17-18 tournament will serve as a preview for that district.

Fugitives Arrested by SCU Monday in Saltillo

Jesus Jose Jacobo
Two fugitives were arrested by the Special Crimes Unit Monday. The Fugitive Task Force out of Arlington, notified the SCU that Hollie Marie Jocobo, 44, and Jesus Jose Jacobo, 44, both of Richland, were suspected to be in the Saltillo area.

The pair was arrested at a residence on CR 3534 near Saltillo. Both are charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child.
Both are currently in Hopkins County Jail. Hollie Jacobo is held on a $100,000 bond and Jesus Jacobo is being held on a total of $200,000 bond on two charges.
