The adoptable dog of the week from Hearts of Life Animal Rescue is Petunia, a 12-week old bassett-beagle mix. She was one of ten puppies abandoned at the shelter several weeks ago. Cypress Baptist Association Walk-A-Thon Fundraiser 2015
November 6, 2015 – The Cypress Baptist District Association is having its’ first ever Walk-A-Thon Saturday in Buford Park. Funds raised will allow association youths to attend a national event in Florida this summer. Registration gets underway at 8:30 a.m. and the walk will start at 9 a.m. They are asking for a $10 donation to participate in the walk. There will also be refreshments.

Hopkins County Judge Robert Newsom expects inmates to move into the new County Jail perhaps as early as November 20. Saltillo Cross Country teams placed in the Region 3 competition qualifying them for the state meet. The Lady Lions finished second and the Lions finished third at Regionals. Tornado Watch for Northeast Texas Until 8 p.m. Thursday Night

County Fire Marshalls Division Makes Arson Arrest
November 5, 2015 – An arrest has been made in connection with a fire that occurred Sunday morning at 11:35 a.m. on County Road 1100 in Brashear. Arrested on a charge of arson of a habitation was 47-year old Tammy Worley McCarter of Brashear, who lived at the location.
