The Hopkins County Commissioners Court voted to sponsor an application for Cornersville Water Supply Corporation for a state grant that if approved will upgrade their water system and provide service to 15 homes located in a lower income housing area. Justice of the Peace Yvonne King set bond at $200,000 for 31-year old Mike Alvin Ruiz of Winnsboro, who has been charged with aggravated assault on a public servant. Lady Cats Still Perfect, Defeat Paris 68-33
The Lady Cats’ basketball team got off to a great start Thursday in the Winnsboro Hoopfest. After defeating Gilmer, 49-29 Thursday morning, the Lady Cats topped Paris 68-33. The Lady Cats got 31 points from point guard Desi Debase and 12 points from her backup Daieyshia Pruitt. The wins give the Lady Cats a 5-0 record so far this season. The tournament continues through Saturday.
Lady Cats Open Tournament Play With a Win
The Lady Cats’ basketball team opened play bright and early Thursday morning in the Winnsboro Hoop Fest with a solid win over Gilmer, 49-29. Desi Debase led the Lady Cats with 28 points. Freshman Kaylee Jefferson scored 5 points and had a team high 9 rebounds. The Lady Cats are now 4-0. The tournament runs through Saturday
Lady Cats Defeat Rockwall-Heath, Tournament Thursday
Rockwall Heath found out quickly that trying to press speedy Lady Cats point guard Desi Debase was a mistake. The Lady Cats enjoyed numerous lay ups. Desi ended up with 23 points and Kasey Moore added 13 points as she was rewarded for running the court. The 64-51 victory over Rockwall Heath gave the Lady Cats a 3-0 record. The Lady Cats play Gilmer at 8 a.m. Thursday in the Winnsboro Hoop Fest Tournament.
