NRA Grant Expands Firearm Qualification for WPD

Winnsboro Police Department has received a grant from the National Rifle Association to fund a quarterly officer’s firearms qualification. The Texas Commission on Law Enforcement requires that each commissioned officer in the state qualify once each calendar year with any firearm they carry on duty. The grant totaled $2121.80.  Winnsboro Police Officer J Watkins found a Pickton man passed out behind the whel of his pickup inside the Winnsboro city limits. Watkins arrested the 28-year old for possession of controlled substance over 1 gram and less than 4 grams of methamphetamine and for possession of less than 2 ounces of marijuana.
