Animals of the Week: Pebbles and Bam Bam

Pebbles and Bam Bam are two month old American Pit Bull siblings that were found chained to a fence together at the apartment complex on Freeman ST. Pebbles is the tan and white female while Bam Bam is the solid black male. Both puppies are very playful and loving with a strong sibling bond.

Pebbles & Bam Bam

“The Police Department was called out, so they went out and picked them up,” Animal Shelter Officer Barbi Blanch said. “They were in the rain and the mud with no shelter. Nobody has claimed them, so they are now available for adoption.”

Both puppies have had their first round of shots and will receive the second round in three weeks. The siblings will not be attending any off site adoptions because of their breed, but will remain for adoption at the shelter.

“They are Pit Bulls and we want to understand whose adopting a Pit Bull,” Officer Blanch said. “We don’t want them going to people that want them to fight or use them as bait dogs.”

Water Bill Phone Scam In Sulphur Springs

Home and business owners in Sulphur Springs may be receiving a phone call from a group claiming to be with the city’s water department. City Manager Marc Maxwell has announced that this is indeed a scam.

Scammers are attempting to con residents by calling to inform them that the water lines at their residence or business will be shut off unless a “remaining balance is paid in full within two hours of the phone call.”

Maxwell says to not be fooled by the claim. The City of Sulphur Springs alerts its residents by mailing out notices which allow them ten days to pay an overdue water balance.

The second break-in occurred at a home in the south part of town. It was reported to police around 7:20 p.m. Tuesday. Entry was made by breaking a kitchen window. The house had clothes tossed and mattresses flipped. Some paperwork was disturbed and an envelope containing $2,500 was taken. Some items of value were not disturbed.

In a break-in reported Monday in the southwest part of Sulphur Springs, a thief broke a window to gain entry and took a safe containing $8,000 in cash as well as a pair of Rolex watches, a ring, a necklace and a bracelet. The total taken was worth an estimated $43,000. Sulphur Springs Police Detective Sgt. Bo Fox is investigating both cases.
