At 3 p.m. Thursday, December 3, 2015, the National Weather Service in Fort Worth issued a Flood Warning for the South Sulphur River near Cooper affecting Delta and Hopkins Counties. The flood warning is until 3 p.m. Friday or until cancelled. At 2:15 p.m. Thursday the river is predicted to rise to 18 feet–two feet above flood stage–by Friday afternoon.
The Weather Service cautions walking near riverbanks or driving cars through flooded areas.
