Funeral service for Billy Joe Rascoe, age 65, of Sulphur Springs, Texas, will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at Shannon Oaks Church with Israel Lewis and Joe Knight officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove North with the Greenville Police Department Honor Guard serving as pallbearers and Kenny Stillwagoner, Scott Smith, Steve Saenz, Steve Tigert, Buddy Oxford, and Perry Sandlin serving as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Mr. Rascoe peacefully passed away at his home on Saturday, May 2, 2026.

Billy Joe Rascoe was born on August 29, 1960, in Fort Worth, Texas, to the late James and Judith (Autwell) Rascoe. He married Linda (Elliott) Rascoe in Royce City, Texas, on April 2, 1988. Billy proudly served in the United States Navy, where he demonstrated dedication, discipline, and honor. During his service, he earned the Good Conduct Medal, the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon with a star, and the Navy Expeditionary Medal with a star in recognition of his commitment and contributions to his country. Continuing a lifelong commitment to public service, Billy joined the Greenville Police Department, where he dedicated 35 years of distinguished service. Throughout his career, he served in numerous vital roles, including undercover narcotics officer and as a member of the Governor’s Task Force. He rose through the ranks to become Captain of the Criminal Investigations Division (CID) and led with strength and integrity as SWAT Commander from 2004 to 2011. Billy also served as Director of the TNOA from 1999 to 2000, further demonstrating his leadership and dedication to the law enforcement community. His exemplary service was recognized with several honors, including the NADITF Service Award, Police Supervisor of the Year in 2001, and Employee of the Year at the Greenville Police Department in 1993. Billy leaves behind a legacy defined by dedication, leadership, and unwavering service to his community.

Billy is survived by his wife, Linda Rascoe; son, Tyler Rascoe; daughters, Megan Rascoe Ray and husband Dustin, Elise Rascoe Welborn and husband Dustin, Helena Gubitezer; sister, Dawn Brokmeyer; brother, Chuck Bundren and wife Rochelle; grandsons, Jax Ray, Kane Ray, Hayden; and soon to come, baby Welborn; sister, Tammy Evans and husband Kevin; nieces and nephews, Sandi Roensch and husband Troy, Brandi Garcia and husband Johnny, Andy Brokmeyer and wife Kim, Karman Berry and husband Joe, Jaraka Potts and husband Jace; aunt, Sandy Hayward and husband Frank; extended family and partners in crime who shared many adventures, Kenny and Rhonda Stillwagoner, Josh Stillwagoner, and Candace Ashmore.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; sister, Jana Wood; brothers, Jimmy Rascoe and James Watson.
