5 Arrested For Alleged Involvement In Cell Phone Thefts

5 Arrested For Alleged Involvement In Cell Phone Thefts

Five Dallas area residents were jailed Friday afternoon on Interstate 30 in Cumby for their alleged involvement in the theft of four cell phones reported at T-Mobile in Sulphur Springs.
Dai ‘Ja Lynquan Rose, 22, of Lancaster; and Brandon Ranard Tatum, 23, Raydarrius Rashad Brewer, Davionte Dupree Rockmore, 18, and Jeremiah Wayne Tatum, 21, all of Dallas, were arrested on an engaging in organized criminal activity charge. Rockmore and Jeremiah Tatum were also charged with failure to identify. Jeremiah Tatum is also wanted in Collin County on a theft charge, according to arrest reports.
Sulphur Springs Police Officer Sean Hoffman was dispatched to the 200 block of West Shannon Road about 2:30 p.m. Friday to a complaint of a theft at T-Mobile. Two females and two males were alleged to have left the store with four cellular phones that were not paid for. They reportedly left the premises in a white taxi cab, Hoffman alleged in arrest reports.
Hoffman said he requested dispatchers to notify Cumby police of the suspect vehicle description. A short time later, Cumby Police Officer Zack Steward had a vehicle matching that of the suspects’ vehicle stopped at the 108 mile marker on Interstate 30 west.
Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Arturo Ugalde went to assist Steward, as there were reportedly five people in the Dodge Caravan. Ugalde and Steward reportedly obtained consent and searched the stopped vehicle. They reported finding a gold iPhone, then contacted Hoffman who was still at T-Mobile. They checked and the phone ID number matched that of one of the phones reportedly stolen.
Ugalde alleged all five occupants denied any involvement in the theft at the store and were uncooperative. While being placed into the patrol car, Jeremiah Tatum allegedly admitted he’d given the Cumby officer and trooper a name and date of birth that weren’t his and that he was wanted. A records check using that name confirmed the outstanding charge, Ugalde noted in arrest reports.
All five in the car were taken to jail and booked for engaging in organized criminal activity for the alleged cell phone thefts from the store, officers alleged in arrest reports.

Wildcats Baseball Gets Shutout Pitching, Wins 4-0 Friday over Greenville

The Wildcats’ baseball team got shutout pitching and they played flawless defense in a 4-0 win over Greenville Friday night (April 12) at Wildcat Park. The win broke a six game district losing streak for the Wildcats.

Jaxon Chaney pitched the shutout allowing only three hits, all singles, while striking out eight and walking none. The brightest Wildcats hitting star was second baseman Kolson Hale who was 2 for 2 with an RBI producing RBI and a two run scoring double.

Austin Dodd was 2 for 3 with a triple and a run scored. Dodd was on third when Jase Thompson wandered far off first base drawing a bad throw from the Greenville catcher and bounced away from the first baseball. Dodd raced home from third while Thompson was safe at second. Kaden Argenbright and Thompson also hit singles and Connor Burgin had a double.

Greenville’s Landon Koger took the loss allowing three runs and six hits in five innings striking out four and walking one.

The win improves the Wildcats’ district record to 3-8 and their season record to 11-10. The Wildcats are now tied for fifth place with Greenville but by virtue of the Friday night win, the Wildcats now have the tiebreaking edge over the Lions having won the district series, 2 games to one.

The Wildcats are still one game back of fourth place Royse City. The Bulldogs defeated Lindale Friday night. They are 4-7 in district play and own a tiebreaker edge over the Wildcats winning the series between the two, 3 games to zero.

The Wildcats still have two district games against third place Mount Pleasant and first place Texas High. The Wildcats win Friday night was a step in the right direction.
