Procrastinators beware! The deadline for submitting the written entry for the 2015 Hopkins County Dairy Festival Recipe contest is Monday, June 15, no later than 5:00 p.m. It is so simple – just give us your name, contact information, age group, and category, along with a copy of your recipe. What a month we have had in May, 2015! Who would have thought that by the end of May we would be almost 3 feet over normal pool level for Cooper Lake. Just two months ago we were still below normal and now we are above normal by more than 2 feet. It is exciting to see people coming out to boat, fish, and swim at the swimming area. The annual Texas State Champion Homemade Ice Cream Freeze Off, hosted by the Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce, is coming up soon as a part of Dairy Festival. The competition is free to enter, and anyone who registers before June 8 can qualify for prizes. The groups which can receive cash prizes include Big Dip for people 13 and older, as well as Super Scoop for past winners of the Freeze Off. “We do first, second, and third place for Big Dip, who get $75, $50, or $25 if they win,” Chamber President Meredith Caddell said....
