On Saturday February 4′, 201 7, at Buford Park Peavine Pinion Pool, located behind the Civic Center, the Larry Buster Memorial Sulphur Springs Kids’ Trout Fishing Day will take place. Starbucks Ribbon Cutting

January 30th, 2017 was an exciting, highly anticipated day for most Sulphur Springs residents. Starbucks finally opened early Monday morning and held it’s Chamber of Commerce Ribbon Cutting at 2 pm that same afternoon. Before the ribbon cutting, drink and dessert samples were handed out to visitors. Despite a full parking lot, the lines have been considered quite painless to many customers, so far.

The Celebration Association is sponsoring Mari Gras Sulphur Springs style! The celebration will kick off with a Krewe of Barkus Parade at 4 PM, followed by a lighted parade, a $10 Hypnotist Show, and a $15 Masquerade Ball that will be held at 219 Main St. Festivities will begin February 24th, to enter the parade call Kaydee Hauerwas at 903-335-9900.

Sulphur Springs Lions Club Meets and Eats

The Sulphur Springs Lions Club meets each Tuesday at the Pizza Inn in Sulphur Springs, TX.  Tail Twister Don Sapaugh was in attendance. The service club recently served lunch at the Dinner Bell at the First United Methodist Church. President Candace Ashmore wants to encourage everyone to join Lions Club.  She notes that it’s not just a men’s organization. Quilting Workshop at the Senior Citizens Center

The Quilting Guild put on a quilting workshop Saturday January 21st, 2017. With a few exceptions everyone was working on the same basic quilt pattern. Various stages of quilting were visible, from precision cutting of the squares, to layouts.  Plenty of friendly advice and assistance was available, along with refreshments and door-prize drawings. Quilters traveled from as far as Pittsburgh, TX to attend the session. During the work, topics of discussion ranged from street repair to the latest Main Street Theater production.
