The Lady Cats’ volleyball team opened their 2016 season by scrimmaging Commerce and Cumby at home Friday. The Lady Cats managed to squeak by Commerce by a couple of points and then topped Cumby by 13 thanks to a late flourish. The Lady Cats got contributions from all ten varsity players. Wildcats football season tickets went on sale to the general public Thursday morning and Season Ticket Coordinator Lynette King said a long line had formed by the time doors at the high school library opened at 8:45 a.m. As of 11 a.m. Thursday, just less than 60 seats remained for purchase. “Updated” Hopkins County Angels and Ponytails Win First Games in World Series Play
Both the 9 and 10 year old Hopkins County Angels and the 11 and 12 year old Hopkins County Pony Tails won their 9 a.m. Saturday games at the World Series tournament in Alexandria, Louisiana Saturday morning. The Angels defeated North Carolina 5-1. The Pony Tails hammered Georgia 9-1. Both teams play again Sunday. The Angels will play Mississippi at 11 a.m. The Ponytails take on Tennessee at 1 p.m.
