TxDOT Plans Upgrade to Pavement on SH19 in Rains County

PARIS – Texas Department of Transportation officials today announced that a project to upgrade the pavement on a portion of State Highway 19 will begin Nov. 27 in Rains County. The contractor, Oldcastle Materials Texas Inc., was granted 210 working days, weather permitting, to complete this project valued at more than $6.5 million. Last weekend, during the Ranch Rodeo a sponsor accidentally crashed into the top of the Civic Center awning. A KSST Source said “the sponsor’s load was too high” and it couldn’t fit under the Civic Center awning, resulting in the damages viewed below. The Civic Center is currently working on receiving bid’s to repair the broken section.

The Saltillo Lady Lions split a pair of basketball games in their own tournament on Thursday November 16). The Lady Lions lost a close game to Rivercrest, 50-48 and then bounced back with a solid win over Chisum, 46-25.
