Seventy (70) Goat Projects were entered in the Hopkins County Junior Market Livestock Show at the Regional Civic Center Arenas Thursday. Dayton Wood of Cumby FFA won Grand Champion and. A lot of rain didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of the sellers and buyers at the first February Northeast Texas Beef Improvement Organization (NETBIO) sale Wednesday. A total of 208 sellers were able to deliver 4,665 head of cattle to the sale at the Sulphur Springs Livestock Auction market. Keaveny Sentenced to 10 Years for DWI 3rd or More

In an Eighth Judicial District Court bench trial Wednesday, John Christian Keaveny, 44, pled guilty to Driving While Intoxicated 3rd or More, a charge that came about in his fourth arrest for DWI in a Cumby arrest in May, 2017,  according to Matt Harris, Assistant District Attorney. Keaveny was sentenced to 10 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

FEBRUARY 22, 2018 – Two Hopkins County deputies were checking out a lead regarding a possible stolen vehicle and stolen firearms.
