An elderly person unable to care for the five horses the individual owned relinquished her rights to the horses to the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office Saturday morning. The five horses were extremely malnourished but not beyond recovering good health, according to Kobe Hume, Animal Cruelty Investigator for the Hopkins County Sheriff’s office. Thursday morning in Eighth Judicial District Court, Juan Octavio Chapa’s probation was revoked and he was sentenced to five (5) years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
