Lady Cats Softball Coach David Carrillo says he is more concerned with evaluating players than in wins and losses during scrimmages. Kids’ Kingdom Open Wednesday
Although earlier plans called for Kids’ Kingdom to be closed through Wednesday, the playground at Buford Park will be open Wednesday morning, February 10th. Monday and Tuesday city crews put new mulch in place at the playground. According to a city staff member, the area could be opened late Tuesday afternoon but will definitely be open Wednesday.

Joshua Poole, 34, of Winnsboro, was arrested February 1 for Driving While License Invalid with previous conviction and Fleeing from a Winnsboro Police officer. No Leak in Auditorium Following Rain; Work Progresses on Civic Center Auditorium
Work at the Regional Civic Center auditorium is moving along at a rapid pace. One Vehicle Accident Claims Life of Hopkins County Woman
A 2 a.m. one vehicle accident claimed the life of Haley Pogue, 31, of Sulphur Bluff. Pogue was northbound on FM 3236 Sunday morning when she went through the intersection of FM 3236 and FM 71 East. The vehicle hydroplaned, hitting a tree and rolled. She was not wearing a seatbelt. Speed played a factor in the accident according to investigators. A Hopkins County man is in the county jail charged with Aggravated Assault of a Peace Officer following a standoff in which he fired a pistol several times at Sheriff’s deputies and the SWAT Team.
