Hopkins County Judge Robert Newsom and Sheriff Lewis Tatum are pleased that the local jail passed state standards following an inspection Tuesday. Sulphur Springs Police Officers were called to an apartment on Helm Lane Wednesday morning around 2 a.m. in reference to an individual trying to kick in a door. When officers arrived, they heard a female making loud noise as though in pain and a male yelling.
