Kids Trout Fishing Day Scheduled for Sulphur Springs
The annual Larry Buster Memorial Sulphur Springs Kids’ Trout Fishing Day will be at Peavine Pinion Pond behind the Civic Center on Saturday, February 7 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. There will be free soft drinks and hot dogs and drawings for door prizes. The pond will be stocked with 1,000 rainbow trout. Adults helping kids’ fish will not need a license during the four-hour event.

Although everything is set to begin on the Lamar Street rebuilding project in Sulphur Springs, City Manager Marc Maxwell feels the holiday season is not a good time to have the street torn up. City Business Offices Open in New Location
The city of Sulphur Springs Business Office reopened Tuesday at 8 a.m. in a doublewide trailer located behind Old City Hall. The drive-through window at Old City Hall is closed. It will be replaced by a 24-hour kiosk to be located in front of Old City Hall. City Council and the Genealogical Society Meet to Discuss Future
At a regular meeting Tuesday at 7 p.m., the Sulphur Springs City Council is scheduled for possible discussion and action on a proposed agreement leasing the city Public Library meeting room to the Hopkins County Genealogical Society and establishing revenue sharing for the proceeds from the sale of the Genealogical Society property located in the 200 block of Main Street.

At a recent meeting of the Texas Downtown Association in Granbury, Downtown Sulphur Springs was used as a case study for use of public spaces and for branding. City Director of Community Development Shane Shepard was pleasantly surprised. “Updated” Parts of Old City Hall to be Closed and Moved
Due to renovation work at Old City Hall, the city of Sulphur Springs Business Office will close at noon Wednesday and will reopen on Tuesday, December 2 at a temporary location in a doublewide located in a parking lot behind Old City Hall. The Business Office is expected to be at the temporary location for nine months. The drive through window is going away, to be replaced by a 24-hour kiosk.
