Meeting Monday, the Hopkins County Commissioners Court voted unanimously to adopt the national motto In God We Trust as their own. A plaque in the Commissioners Courtroom now indicates it. Hopkins County Memorial Hospital Board is Expected to Adopt a Higher Tax Rate

The Hopkins County Memorial Hospital Board is expected to adopt a tax rate for next fiscal year’s budget that is up 3.63-cents to a maximum 25-cents per $100 valuation at a Monday night meeting at 6 p.m. The board is also expected to consider a non-budgeted fiber upgrade for the Emory clinic.

Power Issues At SSISD Administration Building

It was a long hot day at the Sulphur Springs ISD Administration Building Monday. At 11:15 a.m., lights begin to flicker. By 11:30 a.m., the decision was made to cut off power to the building due to a faulty power connection outside. The very old part was very rusty and corroded.
