A $7,000 reward is now offered for the arrest and conviction of the person or persons who vandalized the Veteran’s Memorial Eternal Flame and kiosk earlier this week. Hospital Foundation Lights of Life and Gala Kicks Off Thursday at 6 p.m.
The annual Hospital Foundation Lights of Life and Gala campaign begins in earnest Thursday as the Lights of Life tree is lit up at an event at 6 p.m. The tree is in the Gardens of Memorial but the Lights of Life event will take place in the hospital lobby. Hopkins County United Way Campaign Wraps Up
The annual Hopkins County United Way Campaign wraps up with one final report meeting Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. Back on November 18, the drive far exceeded its’ $160,000 goal when more than $184,000 was reported. Last year’s $196,000 total may also be challenged Tuesday as final packets are reported. After the Tuesday report meeting, a celebration is planned at a United Way Thermometer site on Gilmer across from CVS Drug.
Hopkins County Commissioners Court Get Jail Update
Wednesday at 11 a.m., the Hopkins County Commissioners Court will have its’ weekly meeting with County Jail Construction Manager-At-Risk Sedalco Construction Services at the Sedalco office located at 201 East Houston Street. The court will get the latest news on construction progress of the new County Jail project.
City Council and the Genealogical Society Meet to Discuss Future
At a regular meeting Tuesday at 7 p.m., the Sulphur Springs City Council is scheduled for possible discussion and action on a proposed agreement leasing the city Public Library meeting room to the Hopkins County Genealogical Society and establishing revenue sharing for the proceeds from the sale of the Genealogical Society property located in the 200 block of Main Street.

City of Sulphur Springs Director of Finance Peter Karstens says after Old City Hall is renovated, it should be good for another 20 to 30 years. Most of those years, it should serve as a Police Station.
