Help-A-Child Benefit Kicks Off Saturday Morning

Saturday morning was busy, busy, busy for those involved with the annual Help-A-Child Benefit! Chili and dutch oven cobbler cooks were at work early this morning and ready to feed the crowds around 11 am. Lake Country Antique Tractor Association kicked off their tractor pulling around 9 am and were still going steady around noon. 41 cooking teams were at work on Friday morning in preparation of the Cattleman’s Classic on Celebration Plaza Friday night. The Cattleman’s Classic is affiliated with the North East Texas Beef Improvement Organization (NETBIO). NETBIO is a group of independent cattle producers who work side by side with Agrilife representatives to enhance the beef industry in North East Texas. Walk to Remember is an event that funds Terrific Tuesdays at First United Methodist Church. Terrific Tuesdays is a place that caregivers can bring those suffering with Alzheimer’s while they run errands, go to appointments, etc. It not only benefits the caregivers, but also allows those suffering to experience social interaction with people their age. Ginger is a sweet, female that has been with the Sulphur Springs Animal Shelter since August 22nd, 2016. She was picked up at Douglas Intermediate School and an owner never claimed her. During the Animal of the Week interview, Ginger was playful and full of energy! She loves her head scratched, has a sweet temperament, and would be a perfect family dog! Lake Country Car Club from Quitman, Texas made a stop in downtown Sulphur Springs Tuesday afternoon. The car club formerly held the largest car show in East Texas with 319 registrants in 2015. Several classics appeared on Gilmer Street while the club chatted with local car enthusiasts and made for a spontaneous, classic hometown event.
