Former Texas A&M-Commerce Cross Country and Track star Ross Hicks won the Dairy Festival 5K Milk Run Saturday morning in a time of 18:08. Victor Rodriquez was second. Rabies in Hopkins County

After practicing veterinary medicine for more than forty years, Hopkins County vet J.D. Norris has finally seen his first case of rabies in a horse. The owner brought the horse in about three weeks ago thinking it had colic problems. Norris saw neurogical problems and knew it was worse than colic. Main Street Reopened

The 200 block of Main Street in Sulphur Springs has been reopened. All of the façade of the old Knights’ Head Inn at 219 Main has been removed after it developed cracks and bulges last week. City Manager Marc Maxwell says now a new façade will be designed and put up. The sidewalk in front of the building will continue to be blocked off until the new façade work is done.
