Two Sulphur Springs’ Men Were Arrested After a Drive by Shooting

Two Sulphur Springs’ men were arrested after a drive by shooting in the 400 block of Bill Bradford Road just after 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. No one was hurt. District Attorney Investigator Kenny Stillwagoner witnessed the shooting and followed the suspect’s truck. A 27-year old Sulphur Springs man, who refused to pull over for a policeman, led lawmen on a high-speed chase from Sulphur Springs into rural Hopkins County Sunday morning. Hospital Board Adopts Deficit Budget

The Hopkins County Memorial Hospital Board adopted a deficit budget for the second straight year at a meeting Monday night. The budget is almost $2.5-million in the red. The board also raised the tax rate 3.63-cents to a maximum 25-cents per $100 valuation. The board scheduled two public hearings on the tax rate: on September 8 and September 15 at noon each day.
