Lamar Primary School – Day One

For the twenty-second year, the first day of school in Sulphur Springs meant Rowena Johnson was at work as principal at Lamar, now a primary school. Monday morning, Ms. Johnson said the first day was going well. She reported no crying children but some crying parents. Principal Johnson was pleased to see school district police officer Jim Bayuk in the halls. She noted that she had 222 students on the first day of class, with first grade especially full. Ms. Johnson expects a great year full of accomplishments from her students.
