August 5, 2017 – The Dairy Queen restaurant on South Broadway in Sulphur Springs is hosting a Back to School Carnival tonight from 6:00 pm- 8:00 pm. On Thursday August 3, the Hopkins County extension agents hosted a fun and fast-moving workshop for Extension leaders. About two dozen individuals and committee members were present, representing various aspects of Extension projects including 4-H, Master Gardener, Wellness /Nutrition and Special Events. By Savannah Owens The Hopkins County Sweetees are back from Alexandria Louisiana with a huge trophy and even bigger smiles. These girls had a 14-0 record, and were undefeated for the entire season. SSHS Band Beating the Heat

The Sulphur Springs High School band practice has begun as the musicians get ready for the first football game of  the season . The Flute section practiced their “Foga”or “flute yoga” warm-up.  All of the band members practiced scales as well as the school fight song and popular songs such as “Will you be my girl”.  There are a total of 120 students in the band and they were divided into 9 different groups based on instruments. The 2017 CHESS Homeschool Book Fair & Open House was well attended at Central Baptist Church.  Homeschoolers from all over the area came and browsed through the used curriculum, landing some awesome bargains.  Booths for CHESS sports, robotics, and co-op offered a great deal of information. Hopkins County SweeTees are World Series Champs!

The Hopkins County SweeTees are now Dixie Softball World Champs! The 5 and 6-year-olds defeated the Louisiana State team 22-21 in the Championship finals on Tuesday August 1, 2017. The team actually went undefeated in District, State and National tournaments, making them a perfect 14-0.
