Mount Vernon 69ers Planning 50th-Year Reunion

The Mount Vernon High School class of 1969 is holding the “69er Last-Time-Before-We-Die 50th Reunion Meal” at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, in the meeting room at the El Manna Tex-Mex Restaurant, 615 I-30 West Service Road, just west of Dairy Queen in Mt. Vernon. Guests are welcome, and participants will order off the menu. No RSVPs are required. The whereabouts and contact information for several 69ers is unknown. Saltillo FFA’s Annual Stew & Auction Planned April 25

Saltillo FFA will be holding their annual Stew and Auction on April 25 at the Kerry Garmon Gymnasium. Stew and Chili will be served at 5 p.m. with the auction starting at 6 p.m. Saltillo FFA Officers urge community members to “please come out and enjoy food and fellowship as we celebrate our community, school, and student accomplishments for the year.” Projects students have built during ag classes will be on display during the meal.

Senior Citizens Lunch, Learn Seminar Offered May 6

Senior Citizens Center Program and Marketing Director Karon Weatherman announced a Senior Citizens Lunch and Learn seminar will be offered through the AARP Life Insurance and Annuity Program from New York Life at 11 a.m. May 6 at the center. “They will help you make sure that your future is secure and help your loved ones have a great peace of mind,” said Weatherman. AARP will provide a free lunch for attendees, but those attending must call 903-885-1661 by Wednesday, May 1, to reserve a lunch.

Our Savior Lutheran Church will once again be holding a “Jesus is my SuperHero” 5K as a fundraiser of the youth. This year’s event will be June 1, starting at Celebration Plaza.. Registration is open and being handled online. Those who want to take advantage of the early registration price of $25 will need to do so by 11:59 p.m. April 30. Starting May 1 the registration fee increases to $30.
