Lady Cats Volleyball Team Has Second District Match Tuesday Evening as Lindale Comes to Town

The Lady Cats Volleyball Team plays their second district match of the season on this Tuesday (October 1) game day. They play Lindale at home. There will be freshmen and JV matches at 5 p.m. with the varsity match at 6:30 p.m. Both teams are 1-0 in district play. The Lady Cats defeated Royse City at home Friday, 3-0 while Lindale won at home over Mount Pleasant, 3-0. The Lady Cats have a season record of 19-11 while Lindale is 19-12. The Lady Cats Cross Country Team finished second while the Wildcats were fourth at the Titus County Fair Invitational in Mount Pleasant this past Saturday (September 28). The Mount Pleasant course will be the site for the District Cross Country Meet on October 9. All of the district’s teams ran Saturday except Lindale. Wildcats Team Tennis has a practice match with Royse City on this Monday (September 30) game day. The Wildcats will be taking on the Bulldogs beginning at 3:30 p.m. at the Wildcat Tennis Center. The Bulldogs have put a team together although too late to play a district schedule. The Wildcats completed their district schedule last Monday with a 1-0 forfeit from Mount Pleasant. Friday Cumby school and county officials gathered just down from Cumby school for the official installation of a new signal light. This is a safety feature local entities have worked together to better warn people traveling just down from the school to stop and be alert for the railroad crossing just down from the Cumby ISD football stadium and school. Besides participants from Sulphur Springs ISD campuses, there were children from Commerce, North Hopkins and Como-Pickton. Friday Night Lights continue at Gerald Prim Stadium despite a bye week for the Wildcats. The Prim will have a game featuring the top ranked team in Class 4A, Division I, the Argyle Eagles. They will be taking on Liberty-Eylau in a non-district game Friday night (September 27). Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. Argyle is 3-0 so far this season with a road win at Stephenville, 42-14, a road win at Waco LaVega, 49-35 and a home win over Tyler Chapel Hill, 62-7.
