Two Wildcats and two Lady Cats’ track athletes competed in the Regional Track Meet this past Friday and Saturday at UT Arlington. Hurdler Zach Spigner just missed going to state by a fraction of a second. Wildcats Defeat Marshall 8-2
Eagle Stadium The Wildcats’ baseball team wrapped up the district’s number two seed in the playoffs with an 8-2 victory over Marshall Friday night. The Wildcats improved to 9-4 in district play and 12-9 for the season. The Wildcats finish up district play Saturday at noon in Longview. That game was postponed by rain and wet grounds Tuesday night. Tyler Follis is schedule to pitch for the Wildcats.
SSHS All-Sports Athletic Banquet Is Monday
Sulphur Springs Athletic Director Greg Owens calls the annual All-Sports Athletic Banquet a fun time and a neat time to reflect on the sports year and to celebrate every athlete and what they have accomplished. Second Place Wildcats Host Marshall Tonight
The Wildcats’ baseball team lost to Pine Tree, 8-2 Thursday night at Eagle Stadium. The Wildcats’ had only 5 hits. Hunter Coleman took the pitching loss. Despite the loss the Wildcats, 8-4 in district play, remain in second place. The Wildcats have a key game with third place Marshall Friday night at 7 p.m. at Eagle Stadium. Lady Cats at Home Tonight in Must Win Game
The Lady Cats’ softball team struggled at the plate managing only one hit as they lost game 1 of their bi-district series to Whitehouse, 1-0 Thursday night at Brook Hill High School in Bullard. Mandi Stonaker had a clean single in the fifth inning. The Lady Cats will have to win a pair of games at home Friday night to advance in the playoffs.

The Wildcats’ golf team had an incredible day on the first day of the two-day Class 5A State Golf Tournament at The Hyatt Wolfdancer Golf Club in Lost Oaks near Bastrop. A Grand Opening ceremony for the new Sulphur Springs High School Tennis Complex took place Saturday morning. Lady Cat softball coach David Carillo surrendered to Mother Nature Monday. After four attempts to reschedule a home game against Texas High, only have those games postponed due to rain or wet field conditions, Carillo and the Lady Cats traveled to Texarkana Monday night April 20 to mark another off the schedule.
