Lady Cats Warm Up Win Before Tuesday’s Bi-district Match
In a warm up game for the playoffs Friday, the Lady Cats’ volleyball team went right up to the edge of defeat before rallying for a thrilling 3-2 win over Princeton in Wildcats Gym. The Lady Cats lost the first two sets, 25-18 and 25-16 before winning the last three sets 25-16, 25-23 and 15-13. The Lady Cats are now 27-13 for the season. They play Corsicana in a bi-district match Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Forney.
Wildcats Lose to Lobos 48-10
It was a day early but Longview proved to be scary offering tricks but few treats as the Lobos defeated the Wildcats 48-10 at rainy Lobos Stadium Friday night. The Lobos scored on their first play from scrimmage. The Wildcats countered with a Julio Robles field goal before the Lobos scored 41 unanswered points. The Wildcats got a late TD pass from Ryan Humphries to Tieson Goodson. The Wildcats host Marshall Friday.
MV Lady Tigers Prepare for Bi-District
Mount Vernon Lady Tigers Volleyball team finished District 16-3A with an 11-1 record and move into the first round of the play-offs. The Lady Tigers lost their first district match-up to Queen City, Tuesday, October 27 in three straight sets 15-25, 9-25, and 32-34. Lady Cat Volleyball Playoff Begins Tuesday Against Corsicana
The Lady Cats bi-district match has been firmed up. They will play Corsicana Tuesday, November 3 at 7 p.m. at Forney High School. The Lady Cats’ volleyball team closed out district play on a positive note as they defeated Mt. Pleasant on the road, 3-1 Tuesday night. Score was 25-18, 21-25, 25-16 and 25-18. Gatewood Qualifies for State Meet
SSHS Wildcat Jacob Gatewood, a senior, is state bound following his 15th place finish at the regional Cross Country meet in Grand Prairie Monday. Gatewood, who ran the distance in a time of 16:07 led the Wildcats to a 13th place team finish. Gatewood just missed the state meet last year The Lady Cats finished 16th at the regional meet.
Lady Cats Secure District Third Place With Friday Win
The Lady Cats’ volleyball team clinched third place in district with a 3-1 win over Pine Tree Friday at Sulphur Springs Middle School. The score was 25-21, 16-25, 26-24 and 25-20. The Lady Cats are now 9-4 in district play and 25-13 for the season. They close out district play at Mt. Pleasant Tuesday night and then comes bi-district playoffs.
Lady Cat Volleyball in 3rd Place Despite Loss to Hallsville
The Lady Cats’ volleyball team lost to first place Hallsville, 3-0 Friday on the road. The Lady Bobcats won 25-21, 25-19 and 25-7. Still the Lady Cats remain in third place with a district mark of 7-4. Their season record slips to 23-13. They still have not secured a playoff berth. The Lady Cats return to the home court Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. as they host Texas High.
Lady Cats Overcome Greenville Early Lead; Now 7-2 in District
The Lady Cats’ volleyball team fell into a 2-0 hole at Greenville before turning the match around with three solid winning sets for a 3-2 win Friday. The score was 22-25, 16-25, 25-14, 25-14 and 15-9. Kaylee Jefferson had 15 kills and Sarah Womack 11. Anden Hammack had 18 assists with Tori Moore getting 17. The Lady Cats are 7-2 in district play and 23-11 overall. They play at Longview Tuesday night.

The Sulphur Springs High School Lady Cat volleyball varsity defeated the Mount Pleasant High School Lady Tigers Friday night, October 2. Lady Cats won in three, 25-14, 25-8, and 25-7. Tori Moore was 17 for 17 serving with Anden Hammack serving 19 of 20. Kaylee Jefferson led the team in kills with 11. Autumn Tanton had a team high 7 blocks and Sidney Dietze had nine digs. Wildcat Cross Country Wins at Mt Pleasant; Lady Cats Finish Third
Both the Wildcats and Lady Cats’ cross country teams ran well at a meeting at Mt. Pleasant on Saturday. The Wildcats finished first and the Lady Cats third. Cross Country Coach Andy Holt said the boys ran exceptionally well as a team. Hallsville and Pine Tree were also in the meet. Thus, out of the four district teams, the Wildcats finished first.
