Basics At Brunch at the Senior Citizens Center
On April 17th, 2017, the Sulphur Springs Senior Center is hosting “Basics At Brunch” at 10:30 AM with Ross & Shoalmire Law Attorneys. This quarter will cover how to make the most of your Medicare coverage and appeals. The event is entirely free and is sponsored by Carriage House Manor and At Home Health Care.

Sulphur Springs High School Class of 1950 Donates for NEW Senior Citizens Center
The Sulphur Springs High School Class of 1950 made a donation towards a NEW Senior Citizens Center. They made the donation in Memory of Juanita Wallace. Juanita was their classmate and a LONG time Volunteer at the Senior Citizens Center. The Class of 1950 Challenges EVERY Graduating Class to make a donation towards acquiring a New Senior Citizens Center.

Members of the First United Methodist Church of Sulphur Springs presented a check to Senior Citizens Center Director Karon Weatherman. Members of FUMC gave what they could during a 5 month campaign in 2016. Phoney Check Scam Making the Rounds
The images shown were taken of a letter sent to a Hopkins County Senior Citizen. The bogus check had her name and current address on it. Spread the word and help people avoid these scam artists. This type of scam is common. A bogus check is sent to unsuspecting people. They attempt to deposit the check and meanwhile send real money back to the thieves via wire transfer. Prizes are coveted, and reports ‘post-game prize trading’ can be confirmed.
