North Hopkins Independent School District broke ground for a new Elementary School this Monday morning at 9:30. FM 71 North of Sulphur Springs Under Construction
Motorists traveling on FM 71 north of Sulphur Springs in Hopkins County should be on the lookout for work crews. TXDOT has selected contractor A.K. Gillis to rehab the road from its’ intersection with Highway 19 east to FM 3236. Work on the $1.9-million project began Thursday and the completion date is expected to be August 2015. Motorists are encouraged to watch for flag personnel and for temporary lane closures.

TxDOT Names Brad Martin As Director of Operations For Paris District
TXDOT has named Brad Martin as its’ new director of operations for the Paris District, effective last Monday. After working for TXDOT in Bonham, Martin moved to the Hopkins County office in Sulphur Springs in 1994 as assistant area engineer. In 2009, he was named area engineer at the Paris area office. Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce President Meredith Caddell says December 31 is the deadline to submit nominations for the various chamber awards presented during its’ Membership Banquet on February 13.
