In the Mount Vernon ISD Board election saw 12 candidates vie for three seats on the board.  In unofficial results, Brook Bussell (533), Josh Jordan (673), and Mellisa Dunavant (538) were elected. Votes for other candidates include: Bill Travis (425), Jeremey Monroe (132), Sal LaBlanc (96), Cloudio Telles (25), Allison Rios (293), Colin Clasby (27), Marie Latortue (350), Stewve Asay (329), and Lyle Swavel (43).

The Wildcats’ baseball team took the first game of a best two out of three bi-district playoff series using solid pitching from Ryan Humphries and some clutch hits to defeat North Forney, 7-3 at North Forney Friday night.
