Lady Cats Powerlifting Finishes Third, in Commerce Friday

Coach Casey Jeter and Lady Cats powerlifting continue to roll in their spring season, picking up a top-3 finish Saturday in Mount Pleasant.

The women’s team placed third in a crowded meet of talented lifters.

Sulphur Springs has steadily risen in each meet, placing fifth in their first competition before getting fourth last in Paris.

Haylee Schultz won the 105 weight group after lifting 740 total pounds.

The 114 weight group was a big one for Sulphur Springs. Laney Hurst won the class, squatting 255, benching 125 and dead lifting 275.

Madison Jeter, totaling 495 pounds lifted in Mount Pleasant got third in the 114 weight group. Dylan McKinney came in sixth in 114.

In the 132 weight group:

  • Amy Hurtado placed fifth
  • and Alex Monsivais finished after her in sixth

Max Bailey picked up a bronze medal Saturday after squatting 280, benching 160 and dead lifting 270.

Two more Lady Cat in 148:

  • Emily Soto came in fifth
  • and Kyleigh Allen got 12th

Two more top ten finishes for Sulphur Springs came from Brooklinn Person (165) in eighth and Kolbi McCoy (181) in 10th.

Lastly in 259+ Machelle Allen kept up her winning ways Saturday, winning her weight group after totaling 1,085 pounds.

Also in Allen’s weight group, Reese Offutt, placed fourth.

Cumulating 31 points in Mount Pleasant, Lady Cats powerlifting placed third at the meet.

Coach Jeter and his squad next head to Commerce on Friday, Feb. 17 for their final competition of the spring season.

That powerlifting meet gets underway Friday at 4 P.M.
