Wildcat Round Ballers Hold 2nd and Final Scrimmage
The Wildcats’ basketball team, minus players that will join the team after football season, will have their second and final scrimmage this week. On Thursday, the Wildcats will welcome Denison into Wildcats Gym. The JV and Varsity scrimmage will get underway at 5 p.m. The Wildcats don’t open the regular season until November 25, as Wills Point will come to town to face the Wildcats.
Coach Clark Cipoletta Hopeful as BB Practice Starts
Last year’s JV coach Clark Cipoletta has been elevated to Wildcats Head Basketball Coach this year and he’ll take his team, minus football players, to Emory Rains for a scrimmage Saturday at 2 p.m. Coach Cipoletta says guys will have the opportunity to make a good impression on him. Several key players will be available at the end of football season including returning starters Cain Cody and Jaylon Dugan

Coach Abron on Last Weeks Effort and Longview Friday
As the football season moves into crunch time, Wildcats Defensive Coordinator Triston Abron says he is more critical. He adds mistakes like bad tackling, giving up big plays and being sloppy have to be fixed. Coach Abron says Longview is a Defensive Coordinator’s nightmare due to the way they mix things up. He adds the defense can’t stay on the field all night long Friday.

The Wildcats’ football team will face Longview this Friday night at Prim Stadium with the opportunity to jump into a possible three-way tie for the district lead. Longview is 5-0 in district play. Greenville Coach Sedberry on Fridays Game
Greenville is next for the Wildcats’ football team Friday night and Lions Coach Marvin Sedberry says his program is not where it needs to be but he adds his players are making progress. Greenville is 3-2 overall and 1-1 in district play. Coach Sedberry says his best player is huge Offensive and sometimes Defensive Lineman Shaquille Anderson, 6’1 and 310 pounds. Coach Sedberry believes Anderson can play at the next level.

Despite making the highest score of straight ones, Wildcats Marching Band Director Charles McCauley felt like last Saturday’s performance at a contest in Texarkana was not nearly as good as the band’s performance at the Friday night football game in Mt. Corey Homer is another coach who has returned to their hometown to be the Head Football Coach. Mt. Pleasant got off to a slow start learning a new system with losses to Paris and Liberty-Eylau. The last two games though Coach Homer says he has seen good offense in a two-point loss to Jacksonville and good defense in a one-point loss to Greenville.
