The Wildcats’ basketball team got off to a good start but Texas High had the finishing kick as the Tigers took a 66-46 win over the Wildcats in the district opener for both teams in Wildcats Gym Friday night. The Wildcats led after one quarter 17-7 and took a 26-20 lead into halftime. It was all Texas High in the second half. Jaylon Dugan led the Wildcats with 14 points. The Wildcats travel to Mt. Pleasant Tuesday night.
Wildcats 1 and 3 in the Kaufman Tournament
The Wildcats’ basketball team got one win and three loses in a Kaufman tournament this week. After close loses Monday to Lone Oak and Dallas Life School of Oak Cliff, the Wildcats defeated Palmer 57-51 and lost to Kemp, 53-48 Tuesday. After opening a Kaufman holiday tournament Monday with two close losses, the Wildcats’ basketball team broke into the win column with a 57-51 win over Palmer on Tuesday. This is their first year under new Head Basketball Coach Clark Cipoletta, who was the Wildcats JV Coach the past couple of years. With two top players suffering with flu-like symptoms, the Wildcats’ basketball team was no match for Wylie East on the road Friday night. Cain Cody and Ke’Ontae Dunn were both ill. The Wildcats’ basketball team had a tough day Thursday at a Granbury tournament. The Wildcats opened with a close loss to Fort Worth Northside, 67-60. Wildcat Basketball Team Improving
Wildcats Basketball Coach Clark Cipoletta was pleased with the play of his team in the 49-44 loss to Royse City Tuesday night at home. Coach Cipoletta noticed his team executed some of the things they had been practicing on. He told the team he’s more concerned with them getting better than in wins and losses. The Wildcats open against Fort Worth Northside Thursday in a three-day Granbury tournament.

The Wildcats’ basketball team took a four-point lead into the fourth quarter at home against Royse City Tuesday night only to see the Bulldogs ride a big fourth quarter to a 49-44 win. The Bulldogs outscored the Wildcats 22-13 in the last quarter. Jaylon Dugan led all scorers with 24 points and Cain Cody added 10. The Wildcats are now 3-4. They’ll play in a Granbury tournament that begins Thursday.
