Hopkins County Memorial Hospital Board Meeting Monday
The Hopkins County Memorial Hospital Board meeting Monday at 6 p.m. in the Plaza Conference Room is expected to consider approving budgeted vital sign monitors for the third floor of the hospital. They will also consider non-budgeted computer access licenses for NextGen users for Memorial Clinic. CFO Donna Wallace will also report on June income and expenses. Sulphur Springs School Board Meets Monday
There will be a special graduation ceremony Monday night at 6 p.m. at the regular meeting of the Sulphur Springs School Board. Diplomas will be presented to Nicholas McElfresh and Marlene Cadena. Hopkins County Commissioners Court Works on Budget
The Hopkins County Commissioners Court will continue with work sessions this week on the budget for next fiscal year. The court is expected to meet Monday through Thursday on the budget. The Sulphur Springs City Council will be mapping out Capital Improvement Plans for years to come. Angels Going to World Series
After dominating every game they played to get to the State Dixie final game in Coleman Park in Sulphur Springs, the 10 and under Hopkins County Angels rode the hot pitching of Makayla Buchanan to defeat Lindale 2-0 and advance to the World Series. The stars of Bone Collector on the Outdoor Channel made an appearance at Atwood’s in Sulphur Springs Thursday. Michael Waddell, Nick Mundt and Travis T-Bone Turner greeted fans and had their pictures made with them and signed autographs. T-Bone called the pre-hunting season session a “redneck pep rally”. Wende Wakeman, Highest-ranking Female in Texas Ranger History
A Sulphur Springs native, Wende Wakeman, will soon be the highest-ranking female in Texas Ranger history. Thursday the Texas DPS announced that Ranger Wakeman would be promoted to the rank of Lieutenant effective August 1. Ranger Wakeman joined DPS in 1998 serving first as a Texas Highway Patrol trooper in Sulphur Springs and New Caney. In 2008 she joined the Texas Rangers in Conroe. On August 1, Lt. Cashier Arrested at Walmart
An 18-year old Sulphur Springs woman, a cashier at Wal-Mart, has been accused of taking money out of the cash drawer at work for several months. Jokara Minyette Walters was arrested by Sulphur Springs Police officers Thursday evening at the store and has been charged with theft over $1500. JP Ronny Glossup set bond at $5,000. Plano Woman Killed in Accident
A 45-year old Plano woman was killed in Hopkins County Thursday afternoon after she was thrown off of a motorcycle she was riding on after a blowout. Dead is Ianetta Maria Crafton. JP Ronny Glossup pronounced her dead at the scene. The driver of the motorcycle, 50-year old Jerrold Crafton was taken by EMS to Hopkins County Memorial Hospital where he is in stable condition. Adam Teer Named Civic Center Manager
Hopkins County Judge Robert Newsom announced Friday that Adam Teer, the current Director of CANHelp, has been selected to be the Civic Center Manager beginning August 1. Teer will be allowed to help CANHelp fill its’ Director vacancy and train the new person.
