Sulphur Springs Woman Charged With Theft Of Property
A 19-year old Sulphur Springs woman has been charged with misdemeanor theft of property over $50 after she allegedly took items from the hair salon where she worked and then attempted to sell them at another business in Sulphur Springs. Farewell Party for Police Chief Jim Bayuk
The city of Sulphur Springs is throwing a farewell party for Police Chief Jim Bayuk on his last day as chief on Thursday. The party will be in the new City Hall Municipal Court Room at 11 a.m. Thursday. The following day, on Friday, Bayuk will be going to work for the Sulphur Springs ISD as a primary school officer. The Sulphur Springs Police Department continues to investigate the armed holdup of E-Z Mart at Shannon Road and Helm Lane that occurred Sunday at 10:38 p.m. Two men, one of them armed, took the cash drawer containing an estimated $40. City Water Level Looking Better
After every rain, Sulphur Springs City Manager Marc Maxwell checks the water level at Cooper Lake. As of Tuesday morning, Cooper Lake’s level was marginally better than it was at this time last year by two feet. Still the city is in great shape for water. 800 Potholes Fixed
Sulphur Springs City Manager Marc Maxwell estimates city work crews have fixed 800 potholes in the city. He says that’s about half of a list of potholes called in by the public. Crews have also been making repairs behind utility cuts on streets. During August, the street crew will take time out to rebuild Rogers Street. New Wildcats Tennis Coach Tony Martinez had a good turnout as 40 to 45 kids attended the first day of his five-day tennis camp. The Hopkins County Dixie 10 and under Angels opened their World Series this weekend in Atoka, Tennessee with two wins. Saturday the local Angels defeated Oklahoma, 7-3. Wildcats Marching Band’s Percussion and Color Guard got a Four-Day Jump
The Wildcats Marching Band’s percussion and color guard got a four-day jump on the rest of the band as they opened a weeklong camp Monday morning. The entire band will get together Friday. New Percussion Director Jeff Garza ran percussion camp while veteran assistant band director Jennifer Turner led the color guard camp.
