Hopkins County Grand Jury Hands Up 83 Indictments

A Hopkins County Grand Jury handed up 83 indictments late last week. A majority of the indictments were for Possession of a Controlled Substance. However, there were a number of other charges resulting in the indictments. Those arrested prior to indictment include:

Ricky Lynn Hunt was indicted for two counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child.

Alejandro Castro Rodriguez was indicted for Smuggling of Persons. A grey Honda van with 10 passengers was stopped by a Hopkins County Deputy last December at the 132-mile marker on I-30. The driver of the van had only a Mexican ID but claimed to have a driver’s license from Alabama and Mexico. A records check revealed the statement false. Rodriguez was placed under arrest for no valid driver’s license. However, the other nine Hispanic males in the vehicle said they had paid individuals to illegally bring them into the United States from Mexico and were now being taken to another location to work so they could pay their debt to the “coyotes”. Rodriguez, 26, of Mexico, stated he was taking the nine persons from Dallas to Mississippi in order to work. Due to his statements and the statements of the passengers, the deputy determined that Rodriguez had encouraged them to enter or remain in this country in violation of federal law by concealing, harboring, or shielding them from detection.

Sherrie Lee Cooksey was indicted for Burglary of a Habitation. A call to Sulphur Springs Police alerted them to a burglary of a residence on Bellview Street. Local police found Cooksey, 40, of Sulphur Springs, hiding in a bathroom at the residence. The complainant stated she observed Cooksey inside a vehicle at the residence when she arrived. She believed Cooksey was attempting to steal the vehicle. Since the complainant was not the owner of the residence, the officer contacted the owner who gave permission to enter the residence.

Amario Felician Zamora was indicted for Burglary of a Habitation.

Bryanna Elizabeth Timms was indicted for Hinder Apprehension or Prosecution Known Felon.

Two individuals arrested in Hopkins County Wednesday were wanted on warrants after Henderson County authorities responded to a home in the Mabank area February 5th in response to a 21-month-old who shot itself in the face. The child was flown to a Dallas hospital to be treated for injuries. Henderson County CPS has taken custody of a girl and two boys who were living at the residence. Hopkins County Deputies were advised a man wanted in Henderson County on felony warrants for Abandon Child Criminal Neglect and for Make Firearm Accessible to a Child was in Sulphur Springs. Henderson County law enforcement told the local deputies that a woman would be with him. Deputies located the woman, Bryanna Elizabeth Timms, 34, of Mabank, at the Best Western Hotel. She and David Setharia Whittick, 33, of Mabank were both wanted on warrants for the above charges. When the deputies found Timms, she told the deputies she did not know where Whittick could be located. As the deputy drove her to jail, her phone GPS was sounding a tone and providing a location. The deputy took a side trip to the location. He drove back to the Best Western. Timms told the deputy that her mom had made her reservation and she did not think Whittick was at the hotel. He was, along with his dog. Timms was also charged with Hindering Apprehension of a Known Felony, a Felony 3.

Depot maintenance and modification was performed on all VC-137 aircraft at E-Systems in Greenville, TX 1973 thru 1994.
