Wildcats Football Finishes Season
Explosive North Forney Offense Proves Almost Impossible to Stop in 70-13 Victory at The Prim
It was a very tough night for the Sulphur Springs Wildcats Football Team Friday (November 8). An explosive North Forney offense that was hitting on all cylinders defeated the Wildcats, 70-13. The total points matched points given up in a Wildcats loss in 2012 in bi-district to Wylie East, 70-33. Ironically the Wildcats scored first in this Senior Night game. The Wildcats went 51 yards on their opening drive and scored on a touchdown pass from quarterback Kaden Wallace to Bryant Sanchez. A try from two points after the touchdown failed as a pass attempt toeligible offensive lineman Chandler Leo completed but he did not get into the end zone. The Wildcats led 6-0 with 9:39 to go in the first quarter. Then North Forney got rolling and scored on a run, a pass and on an interception return for the touchdown and North Forney was up, 21-6 after one quarter. The Wildcats narrowed the margin on a 1 yard TD run by Da’Korian Choc Sims and a good extra point kick. The Wildcats only trailed 21-13 with 11:53 left in the second period. North Forney wasted little time in answering with a TD pass to push the lead back up to 28-13 with 10:20 left in the quarter. The points were the first of 49 unanswered points for the Falcons. The Wildcats had a golden opportunity to slice the margin more after a snap went over the Falcon punters head and Wildcat Kylan Wade came up with the ball at the North Forney 15 yard line. However a North Forney interception shifted momentum permanently to North Forney. In the final 7:00 of the second quarter, North Forney would score three more touchdowns on two TD passes and a long run. One touchdown was scored on a double reverse, pitch back to the quarterback who threw a TD pass. At halftime, North Forney led 49-13. Any hope of the Wildcats making a game of it disappeared with North Forney scoring rapidly on a short run on their first drive of the third quarter. The lead went 56-13 with 10:24 still left in the third quarter. One more Falcon rushing TD led to a continuous running clock to speed up the end of this one-sided affair. North Forney led 63-13 after three quarters. The fourth quarter produced another long North Forney TD run and the score went to 70-13 and that’s the way it ended up with North Forney taking the knee at the very end. A long, tough Wildcats season is over, ending with a district record of 1-7 and the season record of 1-9. The Wildcats failed to make the playoffs for just the third time in Coach Greg Owens 14 seasons as head coach. The game marked the last game at Gerald Prim Stadium for 20 Wildcats seniors: Da’Korian Choc Sims, Campbell Cody, Chase Haney, Detrick Clayton, Zach Tiemeyer, Noe Ponce, Aidan Walker, Brandon Zavala. Osiel Lopez, Jaden Janway, Eleazar Brena, Nick Atkinson, George Greenway, Kylan Wade, Cameron Kaufert, Jerrod Ratliff, Chandler Leo, Giovanni Pizano. Ryan Hammons and Michah Timmons.

Kilgore was found by deputies from what was reported as an apparent gunshot suicide, with his dog near the Tira boat ramp last night, according to Hopkins County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Tanner Crump.
A manhunt was launched Friday afternoon and authorities continued to search Saturday for James Kilgore, who was wanted for aggravated assault reported last weekend and as a “person of interest” in what is believed to be a homicide that occurred Friday afternoon in northern Hopkins County.

He was reportedly last in contact with his family around lunch time Friday, Nov. 8, via text message. TxDOT Wants You to Help #EndTheStreakTX
We can halt the string of daily deaths on Texas roadways
By Noel S. Paramanantham, P.E., Texas Department of Transportation, Paris District Engineer

PARIS – Nov. 7, 2019 marked a sad anniversary for Texas. The last deathless day on Texas roadways occurred 19 years ago on Nov. 7, 2000. Since then, at least one person has died each day in highway crashes in Texas. Sadder still, crash statistics show us that, on average, as many as 10 people are killed every day on Texas roads.
That means that about 67,000 of our friends, family and other loved ones are no longer with us.
This is a milestone we should not be marking. It’s also a sad reminder that each of us has a serious responsibility to drive safely.
These senseless deaths destroy families, rob people of their loved ones and cut lives short, but they are preventable.
Safety is our top priority at TxDOT. It is a major component of our daily work and part of our agency culture. We will continue to implement high engineering standards in building and maintaining our highway system, and we will continue to promote safety with our enforcement and education efforts.

But we need your help. Our annual #EndTheStreakTX safety campaign encourages all of us to drive safely and friendly to help end the streak of daily deaths on our roadways.
According to the National Highway Traffic Association, 94 percent of all traffic crashes are preventable.
Most crashes on our Texas roadways are due to driver error, and are entirely avoidable.
All of us can play a role in ending the streak of fatalities on our highways. We can help #EndTheStreakTX by using a few simple driving habits every day: buckle your seatbelt; drive the speed limit and adjust it to road and weather conditions; put your phone away or silence it … don’t let it distract you; and never drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
