Line Dancing starts back on September 1st. Wanda has moved the class up to 1:00 PM. The Classes will be on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month. We hope to have a GREAT class. The class is FREE and is GREAT exercise while having FUN FUN FUN! Wanda won 2015 Ms Hopkins County Sr in June and will be competing this weekend in the 2015 Ms. Texas Senior Classic Pageant. The Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce has mailed out letters to last year’s record number of stew cooks encouraging them to renew their stew sites for this year’s 46th annual contest on Saturday, October 24. Some cooks have already turned in their paperwork. Stew cooks have until September 18 to renew their sites. Those not renewed in time will be available to anyone on Monday, September 21 at 8 a.m. More than 150 cooks competed last year. read moreSummer 42 Tournament at the Senior Citizens Center Winners!
Saturday, August 25th was the date of the Summer 42 Tournament at the Senior Citizens Center. 28 teams battled it out for 1st – 4th place. The Senior Center has three 42 Tournaments a year. The next Tournament will be the “Earl W. Martin 42 Tournament” during the Hopkins County Fall Festival. The Tournament will be held on Saturday, October 24th at 1:00 PM at the Senior Center.

Auditions for the North East Texas Choral Society will be heard Saturday, August 22 from 10 a.m. until noon in the Music Suite of First United Methodist Church, 301 Church Street. First rehearsal is Monday, August 24 at 7 p.m. Dues are $40. Scholarships are available. The choral society will begin work on Celtic Christmas to be presented in three performances the second weekend in December in the FUMC sanctuary.
